Is it a drawback ? Calling db psychologists, personality coaches, medhavulu to answer generally a 'belief' is doctrine or dogma .... passed on from generation to another generation by observance of behaviors , and experiences ... a belief is something that is attained during the growth phase of child from the parents and society that the person is exposed to .... if the person 'stays' in the same 'environmental conditions' as the previous generation experienced the... 'beliefs' will help the individual and give a survival advantage factor ... but when the environmental conditions are changing or the person is in another environment ... those 'beliefs' passed on to the person ... may not hold and give a survival advantage ... at which point ... either the person questions the belief or becomes a self critical ... example : a person staunchly believes in caste system ... if requires a blood transfusion ... does he accept blood transfusion from only a person of his/her caste or creed ... or does accepts that caste is a mere an socio-anthropologic division ... rather than a true division in the human race ...
