Okey here is a story for you:
My boyfriend and I have never dated anyone before. I am American.

‘ve dated my indian boyfriend for over a year now, and known him for over a year and a half. He has lived in America for 2 years now. We both plan on getting married, but my parents do not approve of his hindu culture (being that they are cult-like/ Christians) and his mother does not want him to marry me because she is not able to speak English (although he does not value his mother’s opinion about getting married to an indian girl, he respects her completely) I am was raised christian, but think more like a hindu and began speaking hindi (his native tongue) and we both agree that religion or anything else will not be a problem for us.

This arranged marriage his mom wants is not a problem for either of us and i dont mind if my parents approve or not. I would have my wedding in india if thats what it amounted too. no problems. I am 20 and he is a little bit older than I. He just graduated school and i will be in school perpetually. We have little money, but he pays for my room and food, because he insisted that i move out of my parents home because my parents were not allowing me to visit him ( and i could not afford a place seeing that im paying for college).

He lives 7.5 hours away from me. This semester I am taking all online courses and would like to visit him, but he might want me to move in with him, because of the convenience of not driving every weekend to visit me like he did last semester.

Although I’d rather spend all my time with him, would moving-in with him decrease a man’s will to marry me? Or is that a myth? Do indian men ever propose? He told his parents that i was a girl that he liked (and said that is the way an indian says he intends to marry a certain girl) and that his parents know im his girlfriend, but he didnt use that term because (apparently the term girlfriend means that he is engaged to me?) Is that true?

He says he loves me and I’m sure he is honest. But at what point does a girl expect a proposal nowdays? after 2, 3 , 5 years? He says that he wants to wait until he is settled in a certain city and has money before he has a wedding and give a chance for our parents to adjust to the idea. But his dad says he shouldnt delay in marriage and my parents agreed that we should never be together because he is a “pagan.” and nothing is going to change their mind. (although they admit that we are very in love and he is a nice man).

We both agreed that we’d save sex for marriage and we havent broken that promise to each other. LOL I dont think that i could even get him to break that promise if i tried. So just wondering, what do men really wait for? How much time is really enough for a man to tie the not? And, what is the best way to end a long distance relationship? Move in with him, or stay 3 states away from him?
