employee(empid, fname, lname)

manager(empid, managerid, deptid)

Director(empid, dirid,...)

now I would like to get results as 

empfname, emplname, ismanager, isdirector

how do I get that ?

e.fname,e.lname
,case when e.empid in (select managerid from manager) Then 1 Else 0 end as ismanager
,case when e.empid in (select dirid from director) Then 1 Else 0 end as isdirector
FROM employee e

so can I apply a filter to not show 0?

sure you can do..two ways can be done..but let's go with this..

select * from (select distinct a.fname, a.lname,

case when m.empid is null then 0 else 1 end as IsManager,

case when d.empid is null then 0 else 1 end as IsDirector

from employee a left outer join manager m on a.empid=m.empid left outer join director d on a.empid=d.empid) aa

where ismanager!=0  ....

do whatever required for u...
