2 profitable companies merge avtunte - antitrust gets stronger. If fedex loses market cap and gets into red in their K-statement that makes the merger statement easy. 

Again this is only a hypothesis not saying this will happen.

See amazon delivery company start chesindhi for only amazon products kosam...they are not running another shipping company which will ship walmart, target or customer mails etc etc.....adi marchipovaddu. and last couple yrs nundi all ecommerce/retail etc companies are re-inventing and coming up with new strategies and giving tough competition to Amazon. Ppl are still shopping in local groceries, walmart, target and many such places....entire US lo Amazon market share hardly 10 - 20% untada? rest belongs to others and for them FedEx and UPS is always there and enough for survival.

prob for fedEx and UPS will come when Amazon itself starts new Shipping Company not just to ship their products but also regular commercial/customer based products....appudu first USPS (which is already brankrupt) will be eliminated then followed by FedEx and UPS

+1. Everyone is re-inventing themselves nicely these days. my local grocer also now delivering free with $50 purchase and even giving 10% discount on 'subscribe and save' scheme. Target is giving free shipping for red card holders etc. Now Fedex is giving volume discount to all these other retailers is biggest breakthrough in supplying oxygen to them.
