the whole point of reservations was to provide equal opportunities to those who were never treated equal

granted a part of creamy layer gets into the door these days , but really the question you have to ask is why people from one casette feel superior to another just for being born into one casette which they have no control over , religion is also another thing , db ye best example deeniki

I'm all for reservations based on economic status but until and unless people feel equal , reservations will continue and no govt will touch them

going forward , I can see that they add another % reservation for economically backward but it probably will not adress the root cause of all issues ,  the big elephant in the room , Indian casette system

answer - it is impossible to quantify socioeconomic status. you can somewhat quantify economic status, but not at the union level. how do you quantify social status of a candidate?
