Ryzen_renoir Posted January 1, 2021 Report Posted January 1, 2021 The European Union, alongside 17 member states, has signed a joint declaration designed to take Europe to the forefront of semiconductor design and manufacturing. This declaration is designed to allow Europe to create low-power "trusted" processors on advanced process nodes down to 2nm, allocating €145 billion in funding over the next 2-3 years. This move is seen as a vital one for Europe moving forward, as leading-edge semiconductor technologies are used in everything from automobiles to medical equipment, telecommunications and medical devices. This project will help ensure that Europe does not become too reliant on other economic blocks when it comes to the creation of powerful processors. Below is a statement from the EU declaration, which was signed by Belgium, Croatia, Greece, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Finland, France, Estonia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Romania. Having left the European Union, the United Kingdom (UK) can have no part in this declaration or development plans. While East Asian companies like Samsung and TSMC are leaders in the world of silicon manufacturing, Europe has a huge role to play within this industry. ASML, a company from the Netherlands, plays a huge role in supplying the lithography machines behind today's most advanced process technologies. Factors like this make the creation of a European 2nm process node feasible; if investments are made in the right places. Even with this declaration, the EU is a long way from achieving its 2nm ambitions. However, this initiative should help Europe become a large player within the world's semiconductor ecosystem, a key industry within the world's economy, both today and in the future. Quote
Ryzen_renoir Posted January 1, 2021 Author Report Posted January 1, 2021 China is also investing a billions in developing their own semiconductor tech Through SMIC . They have been planning 20 years in the future for catching upto western / Taiwanese firms and they are almost there now They are paying more salaries than intel / amd for expierienced veterans of the industry . They even poached Liang mong-song who is known as the architect who helped TSMC become a giant and later samsung . USA also put heavy sanctions on SMIC to slow their growth but china has enough talented individuals and a system to help them research , so it is expected not to affect its development Watch out for SMIC , they are going to become the semi conductor giant in 10 years time . May be, chip and semi conductor field lo self reliance kosam trying emo Chips come with lot of security loopholes, it was proved with Intel, back doors in chips are hard to detect once installed, unless one is controlling entire ecosystem of manufacturing to installation, there is no safety, this is the reason why every one wants to develop their own chips Quote

China is also investing kaadu.. has invested.. vaalla national budget lone vundi.. they want to capture market share equivalent to Samsung by 2025/26. I think that is challenging with Trump regime but with democrats now, it surely gets a lift.. Quote

I think that is challenging with Trump regime but with democrats now, it surely gets a lift.. china tried but could not get ahead with investments. they don't have that much cutting edge technicians or scientists in that area. they tried to steal engineers from taiwan companies even then could not get ahead. Now US is not giving visas chinese in many many technological areas in any university or scholars. Everyone blames trump that he is silly but he dared against china and started agency called DFC which invests many infra and technological assistance domains in developing countries to compete against china's Belt and Road project. for eg. last month DFC snached undersea cable project in pacific islands. if DFI did not step in then surely china could have grabbed it. DFI is having full support from dems also. Trump samanya illeppa. thikka undi gaani US ki manchi future directions supinchi velthunnadu. Quote

But Chinese game is not over.. trump made it difficult for them but with democrats, they will bounce back.. knowledge base ledu antunnavu.. leaders in semiconductors are from Asia.. US lo kooda chala fronts vunnayi.. chinese based engineers ni already dobbesaru.. lots of US brain power are asians.. Photo and etch are the challenging technologies and Asia has them.. china knows to steal really well.. Quote
