NOC Permit for Major Projects in Tellapur Cancelled by Government

Irrigation and revenue officials have suspended NOCs and Non-Agricultural Land Assessment (NALA) law allowances for various major-ticket ventures in Tellapur such as Indus Crest, Aliens Space Station, NCC builders, Aparna Constructions and other housing firms.

The action followed a joint Committee consisting of the HMDA commissioner, the district collector of Sangareddy, and the officers of Irrigation Division found these constructions and configurations on three lakes – the Vanamcheruvu, Medlacheruvu and Chelikunta – in the full tank level (FTL) and buffer zones. The Committee also provided the National Green Tribunal (NGT) with its report.

Cancellation of Big Ventures NOC Permits 

On 29 February 2020, the Government organised the Committee to verify FTL and buffer zone invasions and their networks in accordance with two cases before the NGT (National Green Tribunal) Chennai bench. HMDA granted permissions based on NOC and NALA permission to several builders, amongst them to Indus Crest, and now the Government is waiting for an order from the NGT to deal with this issue.

Human Rights & Consumer Protection Cell Trust's activist Thakur Raj Kumar Singh said, With permission for irrigation and revenue cancellation, it is up to HMDA to revoke permissions. It is important to eliminate the illegal structures. 

Thakur submitted cases to the NGT, Chennai, to request removal of encroachments in Vanamcheruvu, Medlacheruvu and Chelikunta, their nalas and buffer zone for the inlet and outlet channels of the Tellapur three water bodies of Ramachandrapuram mandal in 2015 and 2016.

The Committee stated that the above-noted invasions are subject to NALA permissions, which are covered by the Chelikunta FTL/buffer zone and therefore recommended that NALA permission be cancelled. 

The Government's new act would ensure optimum utilisation of land in the construction of big projects in Hyderabad.
