I cant edit the topic i edited my post.  I edited before i even read your answer as i wanted to complete what i wanted to say. Now this sentence is also an edit. I didnt know this is an exam where we do not have option to go and edit posts and that would be a shame. 

Yes such a shame on AFDB to provide feature to edit the post and express opinions.

Apart from virus etc these might be practical reasons. 

As far as i know burial has a process and it is not cheap. Its not affordable to poor. Andaru coffins and place konukoleru. US lo 20k avutundi anta i have no idea in india but still land is expensive.

Cremation is cheap. You dont need land oka small concrete floor unte smashanam lo they use the same place to cremate crores of people.

There are other religious reasons too.  Fire rituals are widely followed in Hinduism. 

Oka pani chestunnam ante anni angles nunche kada chusi chestam?  Its not out right stupid that we burn the bodies nd def its not out of fear. 

Also, even if i cannot convince you i might be not knowledgeable doesnt mean they were stupid. Just saying.
