Ever wondered how someone from afganistan to burma, kashmir to sri lanka became just one nationality of "indian" ? ever why wondered why even indonesia was called "east indies" and carribean called "West indies" and native americans also called indians? one story is columbus thought native americans to be indians - but that doesnt make sense as they used word for almost all brown folk other than arabs - including indonesia and all that.

I personally think Europeans did not enough respect for cultures of people in south asia and basically called anyone brown as "indian" just as anyone black was "african" and even that N word.

The developed nation doesn't respect lesser developed . This is universal rule applied then applies now.

It's natural
