ShruteSastry Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Punjabi Truck Stop, Sayre, OK (I-40, exit 26) - Nice folks, but they're strict vegetarians with the Indian food. They also own the gyro place across the street, which isn't vegetarian (and is pretty good) so go figure. Dillon Truck Stop, San Jon, NM (I-40, exit 356) - I stop here pretty much every time I go to the other side of the country. Serve-yourself buffet. Ask the dude at the counter for a to-go box if you want to eat in your truck. Pilot Truck Stop, south side of Indy (I-495, exit 4) - Another place I stop at every chance I get. Indian restaurant is just across the street from the parking lot. Food is good, but tends to all be variations of chicken tikki masala. Even the rogan josh and the korma look like their tikki masala. Order the large and some rice and you'll be eating for days. Spiceland Truck Plaza, New Castle, IN (I-70, exit 123) - This place is about a quarter-mile from the freeway. Portions are a little on the small side, but the food is good and there's usually plenty of parking. TA Truck Stop, Milan, NM (I-40, exit 79) - New restaurant just across the street called "Spicy Bite". Been there once, but it was fab. Will definitely be paying it another visit. Demming Truck Plaza, Demming, NM (I-10, exit 81) - I haven't actually eaten here, so I cannot personally attest to its virtues. I discovered it the last time I was driving down I-10, but I had just eaten a big lunch about 10 minutes prior. I woulda bought something to go, just so I could test it out later, but I was in a hurry and didn't wanna wait. Quote
ShruteSastry Posted January 28, 2021 Author Report Posted January 28, 2021 Co-owners Vamsi Yaramaka (left) and Raj Alturu stand inside Eat Spice on Oct. 24, in the truck stop on Route 534 off I-80 in White Haven, Pa. The restaurant caters to members of the Sikh community. For them, Indian and Mediterranean dishes can be hard to find on the road. Quote
