Anta Assamey Posted February 3, 2021 Report Posted February 3, 2021 There are still nearly three months left for the conduct of assembly elections in Telangana and the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi is still sitting pretty as of now. But the recent by-elections to Dubbak assembly seat and the elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have indicated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is gradually growing into a strong political force in the state and might give a tough fight to the TRS in the next elections. At the same time, the Congress is also hoping to regain its strength with the change of leadership in the PCC and if it can win the by-elections to Nagarjunasagar assembly seat, it feels it has fair chances of recovery. Under these circumstances, one would be curious what will be the fate of the TRS if the elections are held now. A latest survey conducted by Centre for Political Research and Psephology Studies has revealed that the TRS will lose heavily if it happens. According to this survey, the BJP will emerge as the single largest party in the state with 49-54 seats in the 119-member assembly if the elections are held now, while the Congress would get 35-40 seats. The TRS will end up in the third position with just 14-16 seats. The survey revealed that the BJP would get a vote share of 37.4 per cent, while the Congress will come close with 31.8 per cent. TRS will be restricted to only 13.5 percent of vote share, which will be lesser than 14.2 percent vote share of the MIM. The TDP, expectedly will get less than one per cent. The survey was conducted between December 28 and January 19 among 1.80 lakh samples in all the 119 assembly constituencies. Only 19.9 per cent of participants said the functioning of the TRS government is good, while 38.1 percent said average. Another 39.98 percent of people said it was bad, only 2.2 percent couldn’t say anything. Similarly, only 21.4 percent of people were happy with KCR’s performance and another 33.3 percent said okay, but 43.4 percent of people said it is bad. May be, it is too early to predict the people’s verdict and may be, the TRS will make a turnaround if KTR becomes the chief minister. 1 Quote
