You have to remember IPL is an entertainment event , Tendulkar name brings eyeballs to events . 

If he doesn't play well , he will be dropped

Yeah I guess. Name droppings always has that crowd pulling potential. 

I guess he will be scrutinised further on global level if he doesn't do well in IPL.

Franchised can keep him regardless of the performance metrics, just to attract attention and sponsors.
