Its irony that indian women wear sarees and you need to be at least 5'6" to look good. more the better. but 98% are short or dont' have decent body. 

thats why if a tall women wear saree with decent body (as long as she is not fat) , they look great

every year we have one winner....very few make it big...aishwarya , sushmita , priyanka etc... others try and have a decent modeling career.  they move on just like others...
