Good thing to do is , to ask what’s the pay range for this position. Based on that you can respond. Generally recruiters give the range .

Basically they say the mid point, so you may ask 20-25k on top of it, so atleast they will come closer to 10k, every company offer compensation for new hire keeping in mind that person will negotiate, so asking bit higher than what they quoted is very important.

Any company can survive without that “single person” , it’s just matter of if the position is critical role /hard to fill or kada ane bate untundi. Almost all big companies do compensation benchmarking for all the available job profiles/or atleast critical roles once a year and update the pay range for those positions, they take many things into consideration, like economy, availability of resources in that location, even if they can find resources who doesn’t need sponsorship etc, good thing for the companies now is they can find broad talent pool with this remote option and they are now not constrained to location. This may give them more negotiating power.

Your rate seems pretty low compared to what others quoting. No one is saying less than 180k base in DB and you are saying 135k, he is asking for Bay Area uncle, not for Mississippi.
