The temperature at Eppley Airfield fell to -23°F. That matches the coldest temperature since February 1996. The previous record low was -17°F, set in 1979. All official reporting sites in eastern Nebraska have set record lows for February 16. Lincoln's lowest temperature of -31°F smashes the previous record of -18°F in 1978. This is the second coldest temperature in Lincoln since 1887! Norfolk dropped to -31°F, beating the old record of -22°F from 1936. It is the coldest temperature in that city since 1924. Winds are much lighter Tuesday, but wind chills could still drop from -10° to -20° through the afternoon. Quote
