Not necessarily , Abhijit banerjee can be considered left wing in the states

economists are not one single group. majority of them are not right wing. many development economists for example prefer a mix of statist and systemic solutions none of which could be classified as left or right.

In fact, a much larger percentage of hard science specialists are way more right wing than economists.

makes no sense. None of them have to face consequences for their fcukups. left/right doesn't matter.

most right wingers are found in areas of science that require least amount of systemic thinking, like in biology and chemistry.

even programmers are mostly leftist.
