Strictly not modi 2nd term fault because oil seeds domestic price was too low for a long time . All this was 10-15 years in the making

Our farmers found it unviable to keep planting them and importers got free hand to being as much as possible .

Since our domestic production has stagnated and demand went up , the cooking oil exporters jacked up the prices since indians will pay whatever they demand . 

We don't any long tern policy regarding oil seeds , we import millions of lts every year .

Same will happen to any item that is nnot encouraged locally

Both central and respective state governments should set policies to encourage market demand driven crop cultivation.
