I do not know how much Scala that role needs, but I have been working on Scala for last 5 years and based in the UK.

If the role needs only Copy+Paste the existing Scala code snips, its fine. But if you need to develop a micro-service from the scratch and need to use functional programming features, its a night mare.

Coding in Scala day-in and day-out since 5 years and still I feel I know only 10% of Scala.

Features like fold(), foldLeft, foldRight, flatMap, for {} comprehension, Covaraince, Contravariance, Futures, Akka Actors.....dheenemma jeevitham.

Frankly can tell you SCALA is not for Desi junta especially Telugu people who were making a living on Copy+Pasting of Java for the last 2.5 decades.

Also I have observed that only German, Russian, Polish and Spanish Developers are adapting to Scala for reasons beyond my understanding.
