I did not receive my passport yet. but I got an e-mail about police verification in India I also got an e-mail about return courier tracking It's all confusing You are right. police verification happens but it happens in background anukuntanu what I read earlier is, as part of address verification police station would be asked your address and was worried about any cause of delay owing to verification in India. fortunately, there was no such delay or any intimation in any form about the police verification, other than me scratching and waste of time thinking and reading ‘who-knows-who’, posts online, that have keywords police verification and passport renewal in them my suggestion, be least worried about it impacting as you would be informed at every stage Quote

Now, I am not sure what the police verification in India really means (they mentioned it could take up to 3 weeks). Still confused but I have my passport in hand now. Quote

You got your passport - Job done by them and you, Have a blast from the past now coming to your worry - Have they or anyone OFFICIALLY sent you anything about police verification? You already paid whatever was necessary to get your passport. Police verification is their duty and you are not police nor you are asked to work with them further Unless and until, they officially inform you, which is not the case then why worry Quote

Just tell your parents (or whoever in that address) to have your old passport copy and aadhar/ration/pan card handy 1 Quote

Here is my Time line for receiving new passport VFS global (Atlanta) - Sent the passport application form to VFS global (04/25/2021) - VFS Received the application on (04/26/2021) - VFS Processed the application on and sent to embassy (04/27/2021) - Embassy Processed the application and given to VFS (04/28/2021) - VFS sent the passport to me on same day (04/28/2021) - Received new physical passport on (04/28/2021) in evening by UPS - Police verification happened on Friday (04/30/2021) --> I already sent my old passport copy and they asked my parents adhar copy I have given Address 1 as USA and Address 2 as India 1 Quote
