kakatiya Posted March 21, 2021 Report Posted March 21, 2021 Every asian.. sangakarea dad was never happy with his cricket performance Kumar Sangakkara’s father Kashema Sangakkara severely criticised his son for choosing cricket over tennis. Now Kumar has retired from cricket he suggests his son to pick up golf as his skills match the game. Kshema in the very first line admits that he has “always been his harshest critic”. Kumar in his farewell speech also mentioned that his “Appachi” has been his best critics. Everybody speaks about his average being in the same league of Graeme Pollock and Garry Sobers, but Kumar could have done better. He too often let bowlers dismiss him rather than them having to get him out.” Kashema also said his son never reached the potential. He said his son has better skill with the tennis racquet. He revealed the reason why his son was slack on the game. One day in an inter-family battle Kumar’s sister Saranga defeated him, from that day he slant towards cricket. “Kumar was more talented on the tennis-court. One day Saranga beat him though in an inter-family battle of the sexes. That’s it. He never played tennis very seriously again. Cricket became his primary passion right after that defeat. I’m sure he won’t agree with me though,” said the retiring great’s father. Kashema, said he never went to see his son’s bat at stadium as he knew when his son would get out, even before the over before Kumar used to get out, and he said he was never wrong. Quote
