John Ireland was the 18th Governor of Texas who served in the Confederate Army. Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard will be named for Jesus Moroles, a graduate of Dallas Public Schools who became a sculptor who won the the National Medal of Arts. Lanier also served in the Confederate Army. John H. Reagan Elementary will become the Bishop Arts STEAM Academy. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Reagan was later a Democratic Senator from Texas but during the Civil War he was the Confederate States Treasury Secretary and Postmaster General. You are digressing... the kids really don’t care who their school is named after.. anyway, how is changing the name of a school related to teaching history?
