In my opinion, they might be escaped from law , but karma will punish them.

I never heard that ! In vedas rituals abt vigraha prathista (converting a stone into living god to worship) have been mentioned clearly at any place just that we have install in northeast direction etc,.

Idols in places like tirumala, kaasi visalakshi temple are called as ‘syambhu’ meaning no one knows abt the creation of such idols and hence such temples hold significance 

remember as per bhagavad gita , every thing that gets created will destroyed one day , only god almighty is eternal

Each stone in tirumala is a saligrama. That’s why few people don’t even wear slippers/shoes.
