Bad judgement, if there is a fire arm then he is supposed to draw a gun and make sure he doesn't get out of truck or make any movements.

What the need for him to ask him to get out and come to his police car ? He just need to get his name and DOB. Especially after he said he has fire arm and door is already open.

In few times police stopped, they make sure you don't get out...

Police officer may have intentions to arrest him. Too bad as far as timing goes as he don't even have a backup

Not when the other guy said he has fire arm...

Brain dead moment for officer...very sad...

It still puzzles me that he wanted him to come to his car to run his background. They don't let any one inside car...only place is backseat after they are handcuffed.

the police officer did everything as per the procedure.. he was nice to the guy, did not get into an arrogant tone, and even offered him that he can come only if he wants.. also, carrying weapons is a constitutionally protected thing.. so, why would the cop draw his weapon? it would be nice if both voluntarily put down their weapons for each other's safety.. but disarming an individual and not an officer is not right as well..

there are many times, cops ask people to stand infront of the car for safety reasons.. when they don't have a partner or something..

Nope,  he needs to immediately see it while sitting in the car or tell where it is and hand over it if requested. In this case, looks like he grabbed it from backseat ...

leave all above - i've never seen a police office asking to come to his car to run BG.

disarming an individual without a suspicion of crime is not legally protected.. Why should an inidividual believe in his safety on a cop?
