Tax on money transfer to India

Is there any limit on how much money we can send to India without getting taxed there? Two situations:

1) I have to transfer my money to my Indian account

2) My friend needs help transferring his money to India. He transfers to my US account in USD, and I send it to him through remitly etc. Would that work?

nobody will tax you for the money you were already taxed.

if u r saying that the money which ur friend will be transferring to your US account is un-accounted for..

then dont do it....  its illegal to hoard un-taxed money from other sources. @karthik25

2) why not your friend do his own transfer? i did not understand this part. is that illegal money?

No. I am not getting money to US. Sending money (savings) from US to India.

He said that since he is no more an NRI, Indian govt. will tax him for the money. Not true?

after tax money aite..as long as u have money trial u shud be fine.

BTW. ne friend 15K kanna ekkuva transfer cheste...he needs to sign a document stating he will not ask that money ..bank vadu istadu.
