Medtech Zone (AMTZ), touted as India’s largest medical devices manufacturing park, is hogging the limelight for its contribution to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic due to its success in developing rapid testing kits. Further, it is gearing up to launch manufacturing of ventilators from mid-April. AMTZ, which was in the eye of the storm over allegations in the finalisation of various bids, has weathered all to carve a niche for itself in bringing investors to Visakhapatnam. Located in an area of 270 acres at Nadupur of Pedagantyada mandal, a few km away from the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Gangavaram Port, the zone, for which stone had been laid in 2016, is poised to reduce the import dependence and slash cost of healthcare by an estimated 40 to 50%. okkadu radu motham silent ankunta cult jaggad fans

AAI was encouraging the states to come out with proposals to set up new or upgrade the existing airports in their states. Bangalore was the first to grab the opportunity followed by Delhi (State) and then Mumbai & Calcutta went on for upgrades. Many other states like TN, Orissa also successfully applied for upgrading their airports. Finally CBN also applied for the funds and then AAI gave permission to raise funds with 50-50 partnership between the State and AAI. Then Ramoji directed CBN to issue the lands close to Ramoji Film City there by helping its progress, then a direct road was built between MuraliMohan's Estates and Airport, covering Dramoji Film City and other 'Our own caste' real estate developers. Ramoji bought almost all lands around Airport and sold them to real estate developers. He started creating stories about International Airport there by increasing the hype around Samshabad lands. Once they sold away all the lands and grabbing billions of Rupees, it was middle class that bore the brunt of the crash of the real estate boom around airport. Even now the lands around Samshaband Airport did not recover to 2001 levels.

The state government lead by then chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu initially considered converting Hakimpet Air Force Station to civilian use; however, the Air Force refused.[7] When the State proposed the construction of a new airport for the Air Force, the Ministry of Defence suggested the State consider sites south of Begumpet Airport.[8] By October 1998, the State had narrowed down to three possible locations for the new airport: Bongloor, Nadergul and Shamshabad.[9] Due to its convenient location near two highways (NH 44 and NH 765) and a railway line,[8] Shamshabad was selected in December 1998.[10] In November 2000, under the N. Chandrababu Naidu government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a memorandum of understanding on the greenfield airport project, establishing it as a public–private partnership.[11] The State and AAI together would hold a 26% stake in the project, while the remaining 74% would be allotted to private companies.[12] Through a bidding process the Shamshabad international airport with already land acquired of 5000 acres is in government possession and N. Chandrababu Naidu assigned bid to consortium consisting of Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao(GMR Group) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad was chosen as the holder of the 74% stake.[8][12] In December 2002, Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (HIAL), later renamed GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), was created as a special purpose entity, into which the State, AAI and GMR–MAHB placed their stakes.[8][13] In September 2003, the members of GHIAL signed a shareholders' agreement, as well as an agreement for state subsidy of over ₹4 billion (US$56 million).[8][14] A concession agreement between GHIAL and the Central Government was signed in December 2004, stipulating that no airport within a 150-kilometre (93 mi) radius of RGIA could be operated.[15] Thus, the closure of Begumpet Airport was required.[16]
