Tirupati is one of the Covid-19 hotspots in the Chittoor district and has been witnessing a surge in daily count.

Bhumana Karunakar Reddy visited the Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital mortuary where 21 bodies of Covid-19 patients were lying unclaimed--because their families were scared of virus transmission.

At a time when stigma prevails over last rites of victims of the novel coronavirus, a Tirupati MLA in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district performed the last rites of Covid-19 patients whose bodies were either left unclaimed or abandoned by the families.
