Nenu couple of months back renew chepinchukunna. It took 5 weeks. I reached out VFS once every 2 weeks through support email. Call ki gattiga charge chesthunnadu. 

Support email 1-2 days lo respond avuthadu. Embassy took only 4 days to approve and print. VFS documents check chesi forward cheyyadaniki chala time tisukunnadu. 

I don't know the exact criteria for India police verification. For me no change in India address. Verifcation emi ledu.

If you want to print Indian adress and it is different than existing passport address then it goes for Police verification .

submitted passport march 15 ,no updates till april 15 ,then got update sending docs to embassy for review . then april 23 rd email about next 5 days passport verification will be done in india . that day itself someone went to parents house in india from police station and verified .

may 1 got new passport mailed by fedex.

so hang on ,6 weeks to 8 weeks is the norm i think .
