Serum institute already declared that there vaccine will cost Rs 1000 . And most likely this vaccine will need 2 dose per person to complete the schedule. So as per his assumption if 40 cr people has to be vaccinated so he will earn 80000 rupee.

But these are pressure and negotiation tectics. In actual govt will do some audit and will ask the expenses involved with some percent of profit and will come out with there own price of purchase as they do in drugs which come under NPPA.

Under NPPA a drug which used to be sold at 40 rupee (just and example) govt sets its price just 4 rupee.

So if some carores of doses has to be purchased i dont think govt will buy it any thing more than 100 rupee per dose . So figure of 80 000 cr will come down to just 8000 rupee.

Why 40 cr out of 120 cr people will get dose ? Because govt will not give free dose to everyone but only to high risk people like elderlies , some children and health care workers . So as per calculation only 40 cr will get free dose..

I think Modi is getting surrounded by sycophants.. and is only hearing what he wants to hear.. he failed miserably and was unprepared for the 2nd wave... 

But in India, health falls under state governments.. he doesn’t have any control over improving that sector in the states.. 

vaccines is definitely his failure.. but back in February, there were not many takers for taking vaccines though they were available.. 

Above all, we Indians are incredibly stupid..
