Shameless Posted November 15 Author Report Posted November 15 In 1946 a young mother named Marion Donovan reached a breaking point. She had spent another long day washing cloth diapers and sheets soaked through by her infant daughter. Tired and frustrated she went to her bathroom and looked for anything that might keep moisture away from the fabric. The shower curtain caught her eye. She cut it into small pieces and shaped them into a cover that wrapped around the cloth diaper and snapped in place. It worked. The sheet stayed dry and the cleanup was easier than anything she had tried before. Donovan refined the design until she created a leakproof diaper cover that parents could clean quickly and reuse. When major manufacturers dismissed her idea she patented it herself and sold it to a company that understood the demand rising around it. Her creation became the foundation of the modern disposable diaper industry which now generates billions each year. Quote
