RSUCHOU Posted February 15, 2022 Report Posted February 15, 2022 For the uninitiated, he was the leader of pulp fiction during the 80's & 90's. His Shadow and Gangaram are a great example of character building. He gives a character arc. All his novels run with such a pace that they just become unputdownable. For someone like me that visualize their books, his novels did an unexplainable magic. He chose so many different backdrops. I travelled to so many places without ever being there. But, if you pick his books now, as an adult, may be the same effect would not be there. But, for me, he was one of those writers that kept me creative and excited. Add to that, he wrote a few dozen novels every year during my childhood, it was an exciting period, I would say. He might have lifted a great number of ideas from english novels of his time. But for me, Shadow was my Jason Bourne before I ever read Jason Bourne. Quote
