Desi Natural Dahi has 12g Sugar...why do we buy it?

I believe Indians in USA are comparatively more educated.

But not sure as to why desis buy Desi Natural Dahi which is full of sugar.

There are other brands that have 5 or 6 grams of sugar for the same amount of serving.  But they expire as people go by brand name.

Please prepare Dahi at home or if you have to buy it from a store, please buy the one which has lowest amount of sugar.

best way of making ghee here is buy only grass feed organic/regular butter. Make ghee out of it and it matches Indian texture and taste.

Dahi lo natural ga antha sugar undadhu. Maybe it comes from the milk solids they add to the mixture.

Basically most yogurts you buy from Desi stores are essentially poison.

Like I have looked at another brand (Gopi Yogurt) which has 5g sugar but it has carrageenan which causes colon cancer.

Boil milk for 45 mins on medium flame. After that wait for an hour and add thodu to it. Morning your dhahi will be ready.

milk has lactose which is sugar

Lactose is a disaccharide. It is a sugar composed of galactose and glucose subunits and has the molecular formula C12H22O11. Lactose makes up around 2–8% of milk (by weight).

Agree that milk naturally has sugar.

Have you compared the taste between homemade Dahi and Store bought Dahi though?

Store bought is much sweeter. If you use it for marinating chicken, even the chicken curry would have some sweet flavour.

It might all be natural. But even natural sugars in excess is not good.

Why unnecessarily put additional sugar in your body?

Thats the last option....best is to make at home.

Even organic products in whole foods or sprouts come in plastic containers.

They say its BPA free but there are 40 different types of Bisphenols which are all harmful and BPA is one of them. They say BPA free and then they use BPB or BPC which might be even more harmful.

Make at home in steel or clay containers.....then you don't need to think about all this nonsense.
