Detroit's crash was due to massive decline of the American car / steel industry. California's largest industry are software and entertainment which are doing great. California taxes subsidices so many Republican states , it's just laughable to say it's a failing state . You are wrong..Detroit decline was because of increasing too much taxes and increased crime , unions ... The American car industry never declined and it is still one of the leading contributor to job Industry. (Except for the 2008 recession which happens after the Detroit downfall) California middle class is fleeing the state to Texas and Arizona...and small medium scale business are moving their head quarters to Texas and elsewhere to save taxes.. Toyota , soon to be followed by Tesla..will all slowly move to Texas or Arizona... And this out wards movement just double paced during pandemic ..when middle class moved to Texas seeling off their old homes.. Quote
