Hi,

Ten years ago when I lived in the U.S as an international student, I accumulated credit card debt and left the country without paying due to financial hardship. I am unable to check my credit report to know what happened to them. Is it true that negative items falls of the credit report after 7 years ? If I return to the U.S. in the future, will I be able to get an apartment, phone, bank account....etc. without problems ?

I believe checking your credit report will not give you full info.. most of the times the credit card agencies will send it to collection agencies and these agencies will set an alert on your SSN (not legally) based on the amount you took.. atmost they will sue you for the moeny thats all...
