All that LINKEDIN big paragraph you shared is intrepretation and explanation by someone. In reality the sloka/verse says qualities and activities. Its not occupation. 

In those days qualities of the person and activities(of family etc) determined your occupation.

So even if someone was born into a family that performed a certain activity that's part of the society for a living, depending on the intrinsic qualities of the person who's born he could become something else not necessarily associated with his family's social activity. That flexibility and fluidity existed in that society.

Father is the seed and mother is the soil. Seed determines the breed not the soil in which plant is grown. Granted the soil nourishes the plant and ensures the survival but the seed is always the determining factor and yea we are all living in patri society
