If they call don't accept the debt verbally, ask them to send a debt validation letter. Most companies won't pursue after this

they're saying will affect credit score so i paid it..i did go fr hospital visit bu t the charity hospital i thought took my inhsurance look's othrwise thats fine matter few hundred $'s..

Most debt collections are generally valid. But sometimes the company many not register your payment correctly(because it is late gatra) and already sent your account to collections. If you think you paid it off - first directly contact the hospital and come to an understanding. By training a debt collector will be rude and wont beleive you leading to unpleasentness.

If it is valid simply pay it up or get a big bokka on credit report. If you cannot pay then negotiate a settlement which is a painful process i think.

That's what everyone says to scare you. Unless they validate the debt, you're not responsible to pay. It's a different scenario if you accepted the debt and you're on hook.
