If you are talking about 1971 refugee resettlement, then yes. But claims of Assamese go beyond that. That every bengali that they think is not Assamese before that 1971 influx should be made to go through the humiliation of NRC process.

Also its not 'their' land. I don't know what that even means. We are not talking here about the tribal groups here, but Axomiyas. How is it their land? why because Ahom Kingdom only had Assamese subjects or what? lol.

There were always a huge number of bengalis in that area, dude. Assamese nationalists just handle the fact that they are not the majority in their state.

If you start giving autonomy to the regions in India, we would end up with 1000+ autonomous (call whatever or princely states). Majority of them would be Southern India!!!
