మన ఇండియా లో లేక అప్పటికి అందుబాటులో వున్నా ఆఫ్రికా ఖండం లో  … ఉన్న జంతువులకే తెలుగు పేర్లు ఉంటాయి … 

ఇతర దేశాల జంతువులకి...మన తెలుగులో పేర్లు ఉండవు … 

 

ఉదాహరణకు … jaguar ఉత్తర దక్షిణ అమెరికా లకి చెందిన జంతువూ ... కొలంబస్ అమెరికా కనిపెట్టే దాకా … అలంటి ఖండం ఉందని తెలియదు ప్రపంచానికి… అందువలన తెలుగు లో దానికి పేరు లేక పోయుండొచ్చు …

jaguars are only found in south america and mexico

indian cheetah got extinct. was hunted down during british era. there is a distant cousin in Iran called the Asiatic cheetah. they tried to bring some from there but Iran wanted indian lion in return. gujarat vallu pakka states ke ivvatam ledu....inka Iran ki ekkada istharu. so it is stalled. SC approved moving african cheetahs. so i think that is in progress

indian leapord is found in many states

Since jaguar and cheetah are not part of telugu history , we never gave them a proper name .

Rest are direct translations of English names

both existed in older times. since both are spotted , i think they were used interchangeably.

They were not present since modern telugu language existed , so it doesn't make sense to have names for them
