we are talking about new non-native cultures which do no good coming on to telugu people because they are part of india. yes there are some internal crude cultures also - ave fix kaaledhu but we are already being dumped with other cruder cultures.

If you don't want, don't celebrate Holi. No one is asking you to, stop whining about what others are doing. You sound worse than a redneck racist.

Food is not same as festivals. Americans eat kebab but dont do namaz or do ramzan fasting.

Americans will soon celebrate Diwali and probably Holi in NJ.

Should they also stop it?

Never saw an american do that. I see them getting invited by indian groups where they are pampered with sweets and athidhi maryadalu so they play along. But i never saw them doing it on their own in their houses.

Not right now, but there is a good chance of it happening here in the NYC metropolitan area soon. Many of my colleagues wish me Happy Diwali too. Diwali is a public holiday in Srilanka eventhough the Sinhalese are Buddhists. These things are bound to happen when there is population and cultural proximity. Moreover, these festivals have an universal appeal and they are easy for people to incorporate into their lives. Not everything is exchanged. I wouldn’t celebrate Baisakhi for example.

come on - colleagues wishing you out of politeness is not same as they themselves celebrating with their family. Holi has no appeal -  i cant think of anyone who enjoys colors being forcefully applied on their bodies especially if they are women. its just dumped on us and forced to accept because "india".

Just like conducting beef festivals in universities and still claim india in intolerance.. when education system should not interfere with religion..

not saluting national flag.. em bathukulu ra meevi… tine plate lone kaaniche rakalu..

amma paalu thagi vallane cherachali ani wait chese sagam bendakay lu
