It is worse if they can’t get a closure on their loved ones - they will have to live through that trauma forever. Quote

Simple123 Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 They ought to float up any day now. Unless the are caught on something at the bottom of the lake. Then they can call on the cadaver dogs that can smell them from the boat to pinpoint a diving location been teaching our young kids this technique as a critical part of them learning to swim...when you get tired don't reach for something/someone...roll over on your back and float with your mouth out of the water. Simple123 Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 Lake Travis is dangerous, especially if you’re not wearing a life jacket. Weekends on the lake, most notably the afternoons, get busy which increases the dangers. Wake surfing boats create large Kelvin wake ripples big enough to drift swimmers into danger. Having pulled people out of both oceans and lakes, most can’t yell for help because they’re usually choking on the water already. Only by the grace of close proximity and supervision, are swimmers usually saved. Having witness both sides of this, my heart goes out to the family. Please be safe out there! Quote
Simple123 Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 Life Jackets are like toilet paper rolls. It takes two seconds to throw one on and yet no one cares to take the time - life jacket on in the water = go home alive! Quote
Simple123 Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 My boyfriend and I almost drowned at Lake Travis a few months ago. It can happen really fast - always wear a life jacket or keep a flotation device with you. Anchor your boat and stay close to it. Have not gone back since. Quote
