Samantha doesn't have to do it coz of the family she married into.  It's a natural protective layer, which she will lose if he walks away. She can also maintain a band of suckers to protect her aura and charge a bomb to the producers to pay for them.

The question is not who's independent and daring. No one is. Nayantara is probably a piece of sh1t, and so is Sam. The question is, if Samantha can keep bringing in the money for producers. Until she can, no one can do sh1t to her.

Samantha is more relatable than Nayan to the average girl. It's an act. Even Nayan's an act. 

Nayan doesn't even promote her films. Samantha does it with total involvement. Who do you think you would prefer if you were a producer? 

Nayan's girl boss act is frankly irritating. It's like Mahesh Babu. Samantha smiles a million times more than Nayan does. She seems warm.

Ponniyin Selvan has no one story. As far as the one mystery concerned, about who killed the prince, it is left unsolved at the end of the book. Although one person admits to the murder.

You need extraordinary directorial skills to make a decent movie of this. Which i think Mani doesn't posses. Frankly since the story is outdated, i think its past time anyone can make a decent film out of that story.
