So also with KCR, leader of TRS Party. Media savvy, he often speaks to the press, but on his own terms with oratory skills which no one in his profession can match. His statements would come out of the blue and hit where they should be hitting and once they started invite criticism he would retract from them immediately, after giving a sound defensive answers to substantiate them. He has this habit of "tying the hair to the mountain" and all his statements emanate from this context.

Recently he has been making conflicting statements ranging from implementing Naxal agenda to spreading of red carpet to corporates. From talking of civil war situation to taking up non-cooperation movement of Gandhian way. His statements had began to unnerve camaraderie between various Telangana protagonists and TRS. They caused a few confusions among the various sections in the region. His statement on all those who were born in Telangana as the sons of Telangana soil was peeved by the Telangana advocates. They demanded clarification on this. Some sections even went to the extent of burning of his effigies. He stirred another controversy by softening his stand on celebrating Telangana Liberation Day. His efforts to decimate TDP from the region has given scope to doubt that he has been acting under the directions of Congress High command and reached tacit understanding with it.

Recently he has called people of the region to take up a peaceful non-cooperation movement like Mahatma Gandhi did to get freedom to the country to achieve statehood for Telangana after December 31, irrespective of the report of Srikrishna Committee. He, however, said he is all hopeful that Srikrishna Committee will give its report in favor of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier he termed the committee as a directionless committee and has still kept hopes on it to give a favorable report. At the same time he talked of civil war situation, if the committee failed concedes the report favoring Telangana, and now he talks of Non-cooperation movement.

No sane Telangana protagonist believes that Srikrishna Committee can find a political solution to the current situation in Telangana, because it can’t provide one. No one expects that Srikrishna Committee will provide a solution to the current problem in the state. What is needed is not another ‘study’, not another ‘research’, but an action that demonstrates political expediency, a political and indisputable decision that solves the problem of Telangana right away which is creation of Telangana. All the actions should be towards that direction. KCR instead of finding and framing a direction to such actions is trying to confuse the people with variety of statements. All he is presently doing is that targeting TDP and inviting debates over his varying statements.

Today the opportunist parties such as the Congress, BJP,TDP, CPI and CPI(M) are claiming that they support Telangana only with the ulterior motive of gaining some mass base and convert it to their vote banks.

TRS, which contested elections on the sole slogan of separate Telangana in 2004 in alliance with the Congress, and again in 2009 in alliance with the TDP, had wasted all these years begging Sonia and lobbying in the corridors of the Parliament for a separate state. The TRS and its leader KCR have opposed, from the very beginning, to people’s movements for achieving Telangana state. Their sole fear was that any mass agitation would become militant and slip out of their hands. Hence the TRS had been trying by all means to dilute the real struggle and confine it to the corridors of the Parliament and Assembly with an occasional demonstration to pretend that it is also for struggle. KCR, who claimed all along that his Party would achieve statehood for Telangana through lobbying among the Congress high command, had gone on an indefinite hunger-strike thinking this step would keep the movement under his control.

But to the surprise of KCR the mass upsurge had gone beyond his control. It gradually began to freeing itself from the manipulations and narrow selfish interests of the parliamentary parties and a new leadership was emerging out of it. All the political leaders including KCR were scared to the hilt by the unfolding events and by the prospects of coming together of democratic Telangana forces. The Congress-led UPA regime in the Centre and the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh had somehow conspired to suppress this spontaneous mass upsurge and the emerging young militant leadership of students and other sections by any means. The constitution of the Srikrishna Committee has helped the motives of the ruling classes to some extent. KCR, though, initially opposed the Committee began to follow machinations of the Congress.

His statement calling upon the people to take non-cooperation movement is a tone down from his earlier war cries of Civil war situation after 31 December could also be seen from the perception of his apprehension that any civil war situation might take the movement out of his control.
