JackSeal Posted September 4, 2021 Report Posted September 4, 2021 I am currently on H1B visa. I purchased a home last year in November. And I have tenants residing at that property. On July 4th there was some block party going on and my tenants did some fireworks and one of the firework went to a pregnant lady neighbor who was outside and who actually organized that party and she got some burns. I didn't knew about the incident until today when I received a letter from attorney saying that they are suing my tenants, and me for the damages, injury, mental stress and different things. It's mentioned in the letter that since I am the owner of the property I was negligent towards tenants storing dangerous fireworks at my property and also mentions that since I have my home insurance I will have to claim with them. I don't understand how I am being involved into this when I didn't even knew about the incident and I wasn't involved when that happened. Is there something I can do to avoid myself being involved into this? Also, will this create problems for me in future during my green card processing and all? - Facebook post Quote
