Your job validity is not related to your stay in this country ane freedom. The depressing reasons are constant. Those have to be handled in their own way. GC will not let you overcome any of those. GC will give a breather for many who have been enslaved by their job.

Enslaved by your job has nothing to do with your immigration status. I know that I can get a job anywhere in the country, but that doesn't make my stress go away.

Most people cannot get a job anywhere in the country. They will have a family and kids to feed. For those people having a GC will be a relief.
