oh okay. i think it depends on where you shop.

I shop at the local veggie shops, never at malls or convenience stores. and veggies are always cheaper for me.

my cousin in bangalore won't shop anywhere except at malls. the price difference is staggering. almost 2-3 times that of smaller veggie shops.

Bengaluru is surrounded by vegetable farm lands especially legumes tomatos and other cold weather crops . 

Chennai hardly has any vegetable production , only rice , mango, poultry  farms
