Do you claim tax for mortgage in India?

1. Turbotax says you can claim mortgage you pay for house in India but I don’t have 1098 form. How do we claim it? Is turbotax guy wrong?

2. Just for the heck of checking I added $5000 to the mortgage section and nothing changed for Federal refund. Is it worth claiming in that case? Any benefit in State Tax filing??

Yes I do, manual calculations of interest paid and convert to dollars based on the exchange given by IRS
