Pasupu Kumkuma Vs Dalit Bandhu: Big Election Failures

On the eve of elections in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, Chandrababu Naidu introduced the Pasupu Kumkuma scheme according to which members of women’s self-help groups were provided with a financial aid of Rs 10000 in three instalments.

The government allotted Rs 10,000 crore approximately for this programme which was expected to garner huge votes for the TDP. But the ploy failed miserably and the people and women gave a huge mandate to the YSRCP.

KCR, Chandrababu’s bete noire apparently did not learn any lesson from this and opted for a similar strategy in Telangana.

In Huzurabad, there is a large section of Dalit votes and KCR therefore introduced Dalit Bandhu with Huzurabad being chosen for the pilot. Unfortunately, this gimmick failed in Telangana too.

Moral of the story? People are not fools to fall for politicians' biscuits. They decide whom to vote for and nothing can change their mind.

Like YSR schemes… saturation vache varaku andarki panchadu, now his son is reaping benefits

Dora schemes also based on saturation but more caste oriented… rythu bandu to woo upper class and land lords, gorrelu to woo yadav etc

On the other hand pasupu kumkuma actually worked , TDP got a huge vote share of 40%  

Aa scheme kooda lekapothey 30-35% vachedhi 

Money works , to a certain extent.

Huzurabad kooda tight ayyindhi money/ schemes valla, lekapothey eetala landslide ani first nunchi antunaru kadha ?

Not really. Two way fight kabatti TDP ki 40% aina vachindi. Ade dependable third option vundi vunte vote share would have fallen by another 10%. This is common when there is a two way fight. Anthekani money really worked ante doubt ane chepochu…atla ani money iyakapothey 100% out.

Rythu Bandhu, Gorrela pampini, Fisheries , aasara pensions, etc are good schemes…these schemes although target a section of the voters, did not really restrict or got the feeling of left out of the schemes…

Gorrela pampini scheme valla not just golla kuruma got benefitted, the money actually got distributed with the unit…Dalit Bandhu atla kaadu kada.

Every village la oka 10-20 beneficiary women ki money vachindi, adi kuda election ki 2 days mundu. This si where things went wrong..

Villge lo oka 20 women ki 10k ichi, other women in the village ki ivakapothey they got pissed off and digest chesukune antha time kuda lekunde, two days lo elections and vallu andaru anti-TDP ki vesuntaru…This pasupu kumkuma scheme actually did more damage than ABN/CBN/Lokesh/NRI Pulkas combined..
