It is really good opportunity for Congress to grow in AP. At least next  5 years ki (by the time Modi retires) country level lo Congress improve chesukoni, AP lo Special Status as their single point of agenda kindha pettukunte...improve chesukovadaniki good chance. Sharmila kooda plus point.

I think not doing too much appeasement politics is one of the biggest strength of BJP. Granting special status to AP leads to demand from many other states. Odissa, Rajasthan, Bihar are already demanding for a long time.

Some of the features required for special status are: (i) hilly and difficult terrain; (ii) low population density or sizeable share of tribal population; (iii) strategic location along borders with neighbouring countries; (iv) economic and infrastructural backwardness; and (v) non-viable nature of state finances.
