if you reading msgs and responding then you never get free time

just dont respond and be offline.. its all abt how u set expectations... if u respond once off hours there will expect samethg everytime.

off hours should be only for prod issues and prod planned work.

but better choose sun model teams when u join a company

1. start finding another job ASAP.

2. start charging for after hours

3. Bring up to the manager or lead by saying "Let's minimize after hours work" in a positive way. 

4. an hour before logging off proactively check with team if they need anything from you . and say I am heading out for so and so activity ani. Let them know that you are an active guy and won't stay in home after 5 PM. Like Gym, chores , Kids classes, pharmacy , catching up with friends, car pick up etc...

you can set a status on teams with your work hours. Something like this

@WFH Mon-Fri 8:30AM to 5PM | Office: XXX-XXX-XXXX | Mobile: XXX-XXX-XXXX ||

1-2 hrs doctor appointment untey velli danni aa week lo ne 2 hrs cover cheyyali

Every thursday after hours release 2-3 hrs unnappudu adi matram time sheet lo log cheyyakooda danta. 

 

I never reply after 5PM unless Its imp

I have done the same.. starting of pandemic

MS teams and Emails also Uninstalled from phone .

after hrs also extending only for one hour and not responding to any of the email.
