katharnak Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 <b>Priyadarshini Mattoo case : Santosh Singh gets life</b><b>Priyadarshini Mattoo case : Santosh Singh gets life</b> Priyadarshini Mattoo case : Santosh Singh gets lifeThe Supreme Court has today delivered its judgment in the Priyadarshini Mattoo case which rocked India many years back.Though the Supreme Court too upheld his conviction, it commuted the death sentence awarded by a lower court to life imprisonment.Justices HS Bedi and CK Prasad, while pronouncing the judgment said,"The conviction is maintained."The death sentence was awarded the the Delhi High Court which set aside the acquittal by a trial court. In fact when the trial court acquitted Santosh, the entire country slammed the judgment in one voice.
