I know a few who in the past who shifted gears and did that. 
A lot of people go down to the Caribbean nations though to get their degree. Guess it's an easier route than doing it here in the US.

US undergrad tooo very expensive still they won't get registration to practice, again for practice they have to clear step

Doing medicine and completing degrees itself takes so many years ... imagine spending time studying math and science completing engineering and then again picking up mbbs is such a laborious excerise and probably not for the faint hearted
